    I bought this soundbar because I wanted an HDMI in port and subwoofer out port to add in the future. Not the best sounding soundbar out there but much better than what these thin tvs can produce these days. The design is small enough to not obstruct the tv screen. Note that the indicator lights are on the top of the unit so depending on how you mount it the lights can be difficult to see or not at all lol

    Sound is great love the look of it and how it fits, the reason for a 4 star and not a 5 is due to the set up was really not that fun or easy. almost returned it thinking it was not working then I finally got it working.

    First one I bought the remote wouldn’t work more than 2 ft away. Yes I had fresh batteries, multiple times.
    Returned the first, got replcement, and had the same exact problem, the remote not working more than 24in from sound bar.
    Very weird from Yamaha.
    I do NOT recommend this sound bar.

    This Yamaha YAS-109 sound bar is exactly what I was looking for. It has everything I wanted… built in Subwoofers, Surround sound, Clear Voice mode, Bluetooth and Alexa Voice Control is a nice extra to listen to Amazon music.

    If your on the market for your first or just on a budget for a sound bar!? You can stop looking and pick this one up right now!!
    This is a great value sound bar to replace your basic tv speakers, the difference is night & day..!
    Works best with a subwoofer so if you have one laying around the house plug it in and be amazed!~
    Overall it’s a 10/10 for me, say goodbye to your tv speakers because this sound bar packs a punch for action films and provides clear voice for any program you’re watching as well, it’s mountable and it looks very slick for any setup!~

    These items were purchased in Sept. & Oct. It took me 1 1/2 hours to arrange delivery and set up. The set up is a problem b/c they could not arrange techs to come in a timely manner and I have to wait several weeks to get the job completed. I will review the items when they are delivered and in use.

    I really wanted to like this sound bar because the features are good for the price. It is good to see a sub out to expand it if you want. However it failed to sound as good as the Bose TV which is slightly cheaper.

    It was cheap and allowed me to add my own sub woofer. Thank God for that because the best part of my setup with this sound bar IS my sub.

    Unfortunately, the sound of this SB coincides with it’s price. You DO get what you paid for here. I was debating on going cheap or going BIG, like the Sonos or Bose. I should’ve went big, because this is getting put into the bedroom and I’m buying the Bose 900. The sound just isn’t there for a main room system. Mids and highs have that “tin” sound and it makes vocals difficult to understand…even after tweaking the settings. Maybe it’s my vaulted ceiling? Maybe it’s something I missed? I’m not sure, but I’ve had it for a while and I’ve never gotten it “right”.

    Aug4, 2022 ~130pm, i picked up my yamaha YAS-109 at princeton,nj bestbuy, .. no one else was there for pickup but me,, and when the staff went back to get it,, while waiting,, i hear a loud bang and crash in the back ..

    and i immediately thought is that my package and wondered ,, will i now get a dented box and sure enough it was , as seen in my posted photo ..

    this is essentially a lightweight package as a soundbar, and wonder that a simple drop ,, would could cause such a dent in the corner of the box .. and because of the stiff foam protection, it takes a lot of force to make that kind of dent ..

    however,, of course,, i have absolutely no proof it was done on purpose ,, it is just that it happened as i was there to pick it up ..

    but i bet bestbuy has video of what goes on in that back room area ,, that will show exactly what happened .. but i just am wondering ..

    so when i got home ,, i made a video ,, as i opened the box and the yamaha soundbar shows no damage,, and when i hooked it up ,, it seem to be working fine as of now ..

    if not for this pickup situation ,, i would have written a more comprehensive review of this soundbar ..

    Better sound stage and bass versus TV speakers. App is an afterthought. Nice build quality. Just cannot compete with three channel soundbar for clarity of dialogue-returned it.

    This is a great soundbar but as of today it has not connect via arc with 4 different tv. I bought this with the intention that I would not have to manually input my sound. I’m not sure if it is broken or if it is not compatible. App is also outdated and have to go through multiple screens to operate soundbar. Stay away from yamaha.

    Works very well! Only weird setting is that it turns off automatically after several hours of usage despite still receiving audio input. Can’t find a setting to change that….

    Purchased this sound bar after recently buying Yamaha’s smaller version. Now we have two. Our main reason for buying was Clear Voice and no subwoofer. Clear voice is a vast improvement in so far as being able to understand dialogue better. No more Subtitles. The Yamaha App for you phone could be better.

    Did work for me with my Toshiba tv. The HDMI ARC connection didn’t work. Ended up going with the JBL all in one sound bar. Also, wasn’t a fan of the small buttons or remote.

    Got this soundbar in August 2020. It’s been three years and this has been a great sound bar. My favorite part about this soundbar is the subwoofer out port. I have a 10″ Sony Subwoofer connected to the sound bar and movies sound great. I also like the Clear Voice option when watching dialogue heavy TV shows and movies.

    Decent sound, but not enough of the surround quality I was looking for. I eventually returned it and spent a little more money to get a much better system. Might be good for a smaller room but didn’t work well for me.
