Took about an hour to install the direct connect line; but then something went wrong. The machine failed within an hour of plugging it in and water began to spew out the sides of the machine. Called the manufacturer. They indicated it might be a sensor and offered to replace. I choose to return it to the store and not get another one. Would be a great product if it had not failed.

Always add water. It is still new. Overall it is still good.

I got the first one that seemed to be like a used product and gave an error code of 3 which is nowhere to be found in the manual or even the internet. Contacted Whynter support and I was told that it is due to low water level. I found it odd because there is enough water so I returned the unit and got a replacement. The second one didn’t set that code at all even when water level is low. Now I’m satisfied. Must be a bad first unit. Or used.

I loved this for the few months it worked. I purchased an open box item. Unfortunately for me, I was lied to by Best Buy when I called to ask about the warranty of open box products and now I am left with a defective item and no warranty from the company. I called Best Buy BEFORE I made the purchase of the Open Box ice maker and asked about the warranty. They told me it would have the Full Manufactures Warranty on it. Well now 4 months later, I need to use the Warranty and the Company won’t honor it because it was an Open Box Product.

very poor quality, ours is not a year old yet and it started to leak around the holding tank plug.
