  1. Vilentsage

I live the 2dHD engine. Fun gameplay. Challenging. Incredible strory once it picks up. Multiple story paths. Solid purchase in the genre.

  2. Caitlyn

I love tactical RPGs and this game does not disappoint. The gameplay follows a branching story with battles mixed throughout. Each character has three different tiers, and you can choose which skills to maximize to take advantage over each of their unique abilities. I played this game on hard mode and love the challenge. This elongated how long battles would take as sometimes I would have to redo them multiple times. Someone playing on an easier difficultly would experience more story as a result and therefore may not like the story to combat balance. If you like tactical RPGs with a good story and find the 2DHD graphics appealing, then definitely buy it. My best game of the year.

  3. Raymond

Harkens back to SRPGs like Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics. Less supernatural elements but still fun.

  4. Visaith

This game feels like FFT x Tactics Ogre. Amazing game

  5. o2byz

Square Enix makes amazing jrpg’s. This is a great game with fun gameplay mechanics and great graphics. Enjoy!

  6. Jonjon1020

Great strategy game! If you like the old school RPGs then give this one a shot.

  7. Adamificus

The story is rather ‘stuffy’ up-front, but the characters and gameplay make up for it. It gets better after a few battles, which are challenging and fun.

No jobs system like you’d see in FF Tactics, but you can upgrade characters through a weapon and ability tree.

Multiple story routes and a New Game + feature make it worth a second playthrough.

Disclaimer: Final Fantasy Tactics is my all-time favorite game… Tactics RPGs are not everyone’s cup of tea, but this would be a great introduction to the genre if you’re not familiar with the concept.

  8. thekingadrock

This title surprised me at just how absolutely great it is!

  9. Josh91

Was expecting to like Triangle Strategy after the demo, but was quite surprised how good the gameplay and characters actually are.

  10. SteveO

Triangle Strategy is a tactical RPG with an amazing graphical style of 2D-HD. Think Octopath Traveler and Final Fantasy Tactics and you get Triangle Strategy. This game not only lived up to my expectations, but exceeded them. Great gameplay complemented by a compelling story which has choices that actually do matter and in which they aren’t just simply black and white choices. I would strongly recommend this game to tactical RPG fans.

  11. Keith2212

A really solid tactics RPG. The gameplay is fun and very addicting. However, there is tons of dialogue and if that isn’t your thing, it may not be worth it. If you’re a fan of tactical RPGs or are looking to get into the genre, this is a great option.

  12. jmb11

A tremendous tactical RPG with a lot of fun characters, each with their own unique skills. The story is also fascinating and branches out differently based on your decisions.

  13. bbreviewer

Fun to play if you like final fantasy tactics. Story is a bit long though

  14. Mike15

Fantastic tactical rpg gameplay with a interesting story and choices. Great art style. Looks amazing.

  15. Malibumike

One of the best strategy rpgs on switch. Great story and art style.

  16. EddieC

Overall a must okay game for strategy game junkies.

  17. AmerZ

Awesome game! They did a good job with this one, I recommend

  18. James

As someone who is a big fire emblem fan, but can’t get into many other tactical strategy RPGs, i have to say this game is freaking incredible! Great story, voice acting, love the art style! And the gameplay is familiar yet different enough to set it apart from other tactial strategy rpgs. Highly reccomended.

  19. Andrew

Not quite as good or as hard as Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre. Still a fun game. A little too slow of a start but after that it gets better.

  20. StarWarsFan

The graphics are excellent. It looks like some old RPG in 2D but it is well built and the story is very interesting so far. Once I started the game, I could not stop playing. It is one of the best game this year.

  21. MaxAd

If you are wanted to scratch that Tactics type rpg game this is a great game for you.

  22. lifeisstrangefanboy

There’s too much visual novel stuff and the combat isn’t exciting enough.

  23. Vasin

fun game but story becomes a slog, combat is fun, lots of reading

  24. Oled

This game is awesome. I have spent hundreds of hours playing it already.

  25. RonShopsaLotatBestBuy

Bought this as a gift. They loved it! The “kids” are Switch fans and this was one of 3 games they really wanted!

  26. JulieJ

Bought this game for my son for Christmas and he was so excited!

  27. Multiuse

Great game with a good mix of battles, character progression, and story. Decent replay value if you save at some of the major decision points.

  28. CommercialReign

A very text heavy game that manages to remain gripping throughout. Great art style and graphics make this a top, tactical game for a mature audience but will fail to entertain a younger crowd.

  29. BigChungus

A cool tactical game. Neat little story. Fun gameplay too.

  30. theemadgamer

    Pros
+ Gameplay is great – varied maps and terrain. Large roster with distinct movesets
+ Story is great – It’s a slow burn about three neighboring nations with different ideals competing for resources.
+ Decisions matter – there are many decisions in the game where each answer has genuine merit and its hard to choose. You can talk to your allies to get their input, and I’ve found my choice swayed more than once by what they had to say.
    + Hard mode is HARD

    Cons
    – Game starts a bit slow
    – Framerate drops occasionally

  31. Eflover

Fun strategy rpg from square! Haven’t played as much as I’d like to yet

  32. MichaelG

Great strategy RPG but my word do they talk a lot in this game. If you’re into strategy RPGs and don’t mind all the dialog and decision making this is the game for you.

  33. LindaUngah

If you liked the HD-2D of Octopath traveler evoking old final fantasy games, Triangle Strategy is Team Asano’s answer to final fantasy tactics. It has a gorgeous artstyle with a compelling story filled with dozens of characters. The battle system is really fun, especially if you enjoy tactics game. But the story is engrossing and gets you to want to play even more. Square did a great job with this one as the HD-2D games all continue to shine.

  34. Matty

Epic turn based strategy game. Anyone who enjoys Final Fantasy Tactics has a lot to celebrate here.

  35. ThatOneGuy

Great strategic gameplay. The art style is awesome amd music is fantastic. I’ve fallen in love with this and OT 1 & 2. The characters are memorable.

  36. Chonnyboy

If you’re a fan of the Final Fantasy tactics game that came out early on, you’re going to absolutely love this game.

  37. Anaverd

Amazing map design, gameplay, characters, visuals, music, and story. You gotta play this game! I recommend it on Hard, since it’s so satisfying to win with deeper strategies.

  38. KelvinG

Came super quick. Can’t wait to dive into the game!

  39. Atelier

One of the best of the tacticals SE is goat with the trpgs

  40. LittleBit

This game won’t let me do much. I didn’t know who I was or what was going on so don’t buy it sucks a lot

  41. Vince

This is a great SRPG. This game however talks entirely too much. I am a bit RPG fan. I love a good story in the game, but I swear to god the ratio is like 7/10s dialogue 3/10s gameplay. The only positive to this though is that the story is really good. Definitely worth checking out if you like the genre.

  42. Mike

The game is good, when you get to play. There are hours of story to get through, so much so that the battles are a side event to the story you read through between them. It is almost more of a visual novel.

  43. Solidocelot

It looks like other tactical rpgs I have played in the past with a major overhaul on graphics. It’s as if pixel art was ahead of its time, you just have to experience it. To my detriment, I have only tried it in undocked mode; I’m sure it looks awesome docked.

Unfortunately for me I wanted to get right into the game and it seems like it will be heavily based on its story. There’s nothing wrong with that as it is what I have come to expect from this developer.

Cheers to a great game. If I had a chance to play through I may give it 5 stars but nothing comes close to FF7 for me. Maybe a pixel remaster would have been more appropriate for that one instead of it’s modern remake… hint hint, it’s not too late;)

  44. Onionknight

One of the best strategy rpgs I ever played. Deep story and deep combat system. A must have for the Switch.

  45. CherryB

Worse strategy games out there, but better ones also.

  46. Blinddog55

This game is deep. It is involved. It is very story driven. Don’t be surprised of you go 30 minites reaidng dialogue and story between gaming. Woth that said, its worth it. This game is solid. Think Game of Thrones levels of lore and political intrigue.

  47. Lorenzo

Very political and unless you play your cards right, the game will force your storyline. The turn base play style is enjoyable.

  48. Ingsoc88

Great game, the start takes forever but it really opens up after that. Overall a great game

  49. ChrisC

Average game not a ton of replay value unfortunately

  50. Erik

I really can’t get used to the fighting system. I guess if you like the ogre tactics and such, you may like it. I’m more a fire emblem guy, and I can’t get used to the combat system.
