Good game with me. I don’t trust another review. I bought it and play. It’s really good game.
nick07 –
Even though it has its own issues and isn’t the gamecube port but instead the PS3 port which isnt as good, it’s still a great game with a fantastic story. Perfect game to play on the handheld as well.
MatthewO –
Great game with a cool story and fun gameplay. Best buy was great to buy from too.
Meee –

Ok look.. I absolutely love this game. It is my first time playing through it. However, this game is absolutely not optimized for modern consoles. It runs below 30 fps half the time. And takes forever to load in battles. I think this game will.be worth it once it’s fully patched.
Metsu –
This was the first tales game that I’ve ever own on GameCube when I was a kid and I loved it. Since I was a kid at the time, I didn’t make it far because I thought the game was hard but now im even further in the game than I ever was before!
James –
Enjoyed getting to play this title again with the remastered updates.
tammnguyen –
Runs worst then the original but still a great game
jefe –
Game has a few performance issues that need a number of patches.
ThomasC –
As someone who has never played Tales of Symphonia before, I’m glad I was finally able to experience the classic! It’s a little dated, but I’m a sucker for retro RPGs. Fast delivery time on Best Buy’s part.

This was onenof my favorite games on the gamecuve growing up. I had to get it when they remade it for the switch. The story is excellent. I would wait until they patch the game. There were a few bugs when it first came out.
ZeldaAmiibo –
satisfied with this game for the discounted price feels a little janky but amazing shipping and service from best buy
Turin –
Very fun remaster, also ordered it on sale so it was beyond worth it!
BrianG –
Played this back when I was a WEE LADDIE and loved it but this Remaster is a Masterpiece 8/10 Please get if you love old school tales of games
Francat21 –
Worth the purchase for the price and it is so much fun

Fun game from the GameCube era of consoles. Well worth a trip.
Raymond –
Got this game on a great deal from bestbuy the only place you can get deal like this
Bluntzy –
Probably the best in the franchise but not the best port being 30fps instead of 60.
joey302 –
2 classic JRPG’s in one package. These are bonafide classic role players that were previously on older systems.
Torch –
This game will take you to a whole new level of fantasy!
Dubberton –
I never got to play the original and I love it. Im a huge Tales fan and this has been top tier for me
wasabisung –
One of the most memorable JRPs I played when I was younger. Fond memories of couch co-op working to maximize combos in battle.
DJGamer –
I have played the later Tales games. This game was just unenjoyable from the start. The combat was not 3d; it was basically a side scroller. I imagine at the time the original was just fine have left and right active combat. I just prefer some sort of arena where you can dodge and use your team a little better.
Hatdude –
I loved the original and the remake is pretty good

Great game tons of nostalgia of the GameCube days with modern polish
RickyR –
Very fun game that i got to play again but this time with my wife!
Bravenlock –
an awesome RPG classic reborn in the best way, on the switch!
JNorton –
Haven’t had the chance to play much yet but I’ve been excited for a way to play a classic game. There’s a discount from the normal price of Switch games too.
Thatmaddude –
Tales of Symphonia remaster at a great price for Gamecube nostalgia! Definitely a game to pick up for a tales of Collector.
Vince –
This review is probably a little blinded by nostalgia. I love this game. I saw a bunch of reviews tearing into this one saying it wasn’t running great etc. I don’t feel like I saw any of that during my playthrough. While the game itself does show it’s age in 2023 I still loved replaying through it on modern consoles
Ghostwolf –
The story is amazing and the combat is unique. I have played many action rpgs but not like this one. The combat alone is worth the price.
CarlosP –
One of the best, RPG that I played I have fun playing this game all over again
KyleP –
A good remake of a classic gamecube game. It plays well and has a good frame rate.

This is a painful situation. There is one positive here: This is still Tales of Symphonia on a handheld. That’s it. This version is one of the worst versions of one of the best games of all time. The problem is in the messy way it came to exist.
The original Tales of Symphonia released on the Nintendo Gamecube and featured high quality textures and ran at 60 frames per second. Sometime later, Namco ported the game to PS2 in Japan. They had to dramatically reduce the texture quality and drop the frame rate to 30fps to get the ga e running on the PS2, but they added a bit of content to make up for it. The problem is that this PS2 version is at the heart of the buggy HD version that released on PS3 and PC several years ago, and THAT PS3/PC version is what this “remaster” is derived from, ON All PLATFORMS. Even the Xbox and Playstation versions are stuck with the same performance problems as the Switch, but the Switch version just has more problems.
The 30fps PS2 version has had its blurry textures upscaled and the HD models have been retouched, but many graphical effects have been entirely broken.
The battle transitions originally had a shattering glass effect. The Remaster broke this sonbd that they patched the switch version to just a black screen. The Xbox and Playstation versions have had the glass break effect repaired using brute force, that that just shows how messed up the source code is for this game at this point in time. The 2001 Gamecube ran the screen shatter effect at 60 frames per second no problem.
The Switch had to have the effect removed, NOT because it couldn’t do the effect, But because the code was so messed up that it didn’t work correctly anymore and Bandai Namco couldn’t cover it up with more patchwork.
If this was a direct version of the Gamecube game with the exact same enhancement as Super Mario Sunshine and Pikmin 1+2, this could have been the best version of Tales of Symphonia. Unfortunately, the versions keep getting worse and worse.
Bikutaa –
Great classic and a must play that still holds up.
Monaresclub –
Never played the switch version but the gamecube version was pretty fun. So i assume it is the same thing
Diggle –
Game is fun, but it doenst run great on Switch. Framerate is not consistent, but also doesnt break the game.
DanK –
Great game! Loveable characters! Emotionally gripping story! Fun and rewarding combat! Everything you could want in a JRPG!
Rachfor3 –
It’s a classic JRPG. Some of the mechanics are a bit dated but overall, it’s a great game and story.
Dragon –
Great game! Love that ToS is available for Nintendo Switch
Ozzie –
Brings back so many memories. Loved this game when it was out fir the Gamecube. Great story, easy combat.
Twan –
Now this one stings to review because Tales of symphonia is my absolute favorite game ever. So the switch version does have some problems like occasional freezing but there was a patch that helped with this. It is playable and I recommend this game but I recommend it on playstation 4 version more. Either way it’s a must get JRPG, it’s a classic and the story, characters, and world building are all brilliant!
FelipeS –
This great game still holds up and this remaster is a great way to introduce new JRPG fans to the Tales franchise
DanielN –
One of the greatest games ever. The updated Graphics was well worth the price.
Branden –
The Tales of Symphonia series of games never disappoints!
Daniel –
With recent updates this port is perfectly fine. Having this game on modern hardware and portable is great!
anna –
Love this game! Playing it again on the switch is super fun.
TomR –
I have bought this game on every console it’s come out for. Must play game in the Tales series.
SasaharaX –
This was a great game to play. Very fun and exciting.
TrippyB –
Loved this on gamecube and enjoying it again on Switch. Great visual update.
