We installed this air conditioner last week. It does really take two people to make sure it is carefully lifted into place, as well as perfectly level. We had to modify a little to accommodate an older storm window frame.
Wow! This unit works rapidly and super super quietly in my home office. There is no audible “Zoom Meeting” buzz. Remote works beautifully. Highly, highly recommended, and so much better than my other “roll-around unit.

Pros: Produces adequate cold air enough to easily cool down a bedroom all while remaining super quiet, even when the fan is on high. I’m amazed at just how quiet this unit is and after living with a traditional portable air conditioner the difference is night and day.
Cons: The user interface leaves much to be desired. Why on earth did GE decide to light up the little bar or dot adjacent to the label of the setting you want to change, instead of (or in addition to) lighting up the feature you are trying to adjust. This means that at night when you fumble around trying to find one of the black capacitive buttons to wake the unit display up, you are shown nothing but a bunch of dots and dashes. Granted the temperature is shown but the + or – buttons to adjust it are black so it’s just random that you find the right spot on the panel to change what you want to change and odds are you will end up pressing the wrong setting anyway.
So forgot about the on-unit interface for controlling your unit (especially at night, it’s pretty much useless) instead grab your smart phone, install GE’s mobile app and you’ll have access to all the unit’s settings and features plus you can control the unit from anywhere in the world. So when you leave work in the afternoon, open the app and turn on the unit so that your bedroom is nice and cool when you get home. The app gives you options for setting a runtime schedule, adjusting the temperature, fan speed and mode of operation (fairly standard among units at this price point) but as a bonus, GE has even included an energy usage report. Speaking of power consumption, the good news is this unit so far appears to sip power at a pretty reasonable rate.
Bottom Line: Putting the motor outside makes a world of difference controlling the level of noise you have to put up with compared to most portable air conditioners. Having the unit sit at and below the window is brilliant, makes you wonder why nobody thought of this sooner. I’ve been more than pleased with this unit so far, even given the ridiculous control interface on the face of the unit, that’s just dumb engineering at it’s finest. That’s a small gripe which is far outweighed by the long list of positives. But it was enough that I felt it necessary to take a way a star, if they get that interface worked out, I’d easily give tis unit five stars.

Just ok, cool concept but the wifi app does not work and install isnt as easy as you would hope. Gave up trying to connect to wifi after several hours with tech assistance. Far from a smart appliance

This AC works great. Was a bear to put in by myself but the design is awesome. The window closes down to about 8 inches allowing more light into the room. Wifi setup was too confusing and I’m an electronics guy. I had to call the GE hotline to get it set up right but now it works great. Can set it from a smart phone or tablet with their smart app. The display is very dim and its hard to see when the sun is on that sid of the house. The remote is terrible…it is white with silver letters on the buttons. They are hard to read in any type of light. Overall, this is a great unit. Very expensive but well worth it if you are looking for a very quiet, hard working air conditioner. We have it in a 375 sq. Ft. room and it keeps it very comfortable even in quiet mode which is almost as quiet as just the air flow in a central air conditioned home.

Installation was a little trickier than we anticipated as this had to go into a very shallow window frame, which is specifically why we bought this particular unit. The expansion and securing of the middle frame that sits on the window sill was a bit complicated. Wasn’t clear how to secure it so it would not expand outward after installation. A/C works great, cools off quickly. Unit is quiet inside the house, but the part that is outside the house is a bit noisy giving off a loud ticking noise when running. Otherwise, seems to work very well so far.

The pump stopped working in less than a month and let water run inside my house. This has happened to others also. Until this happened i was pleased with the unit.. Now the hassle of having to remove it and drive the 42 mile trip to return it i am not pleased with, this should not have malfunctioned in less than a month.

It’s a month and a half old and is now dead , GE support is zero help display is dead won’t turn on . Wifi set up is terrible to the manual has the wrong instructions . Took 2 weeks to find someone at tech support to tell us how to fix it then for past 2 weeks it would shut down every 10 hours . Now at week 6 it’s dead and they can’t tell us where to go to get this piece of junk fixxed and BBY won’t take it back since it’s over 15 days

For me this is a five star review. My 20 year old central air system went in June and I needed relief FAST. Estimates I received to replace were in the $5K and $6K area at minimum – I purchased two GE Profile units and my house is FREEZING. They are efficient, as I already got my electric bill for July and it was less than it would have been, and that’s running two units pretty much 24/7 – They installed VERY easily with good instructions. I have one upstairs and one downstairs. And my house is not small – it’s in the 2000 SQ ft area – The two units run quiet and cool both levels. Five Stars.

Not enough foam pads, i had to get more to accommodate to my window.
The most annoying part is where te cooling fan is, there is a recessed frame, which accumulate water. You can hear the fan hitting the water…

This air conditioner has more pros than cons. For starters it is extremely quiet and allows for the owner to still have a clear sight out of their window. However it is harder to install and uninstall and not the most powerful unit.

Issue 1 – the wifi password/ login sticker was not places on the ac unit. Yes it has a remote but i wanted it set up to wifi. issue 2 – P01 error which is a pump error. The unit was useless. When it ran it ran well, very quiet. I disnt like the touchpad but thats me.

Really nice design – had to get it out of my house though because it was so loud. You can also hear water hitting the fan which drove me nuts because there is nothing more unsettling to hear at night than the sound of a “leak” in the home. When the motor would kick in it was a constant drone. It is also frustrating how it defaults to “eco” mode after each power off instead of your last setting. Relocated to my garage and it is great for that.

The option to have an open window is a huuuge plus to any window mounted AC. Inside the room its pretty quiet and settings make the room very comfortable very fast. The one thing that keeps me from rating it 5/5 is simply because the condensation buildup on the exterior part of the unit builds up where the fan spins making this terrible “fan blades skipping across the water” kind of sound. I will play around with positioning and see if i can remedy it slightly. Otherwise ive had no issues with ac performance and the wifi option is very nice to have the room cold by the time i get home!
