  1. AlvinPader

The best 100% Tactical game you’ll ever had for 2022

  2. Conde

The diofield chronicle for the Nintendo Switch is a excellent strategy game for any fan. A+++

  3. JeffH

A very neat and unique take on the strategy genre, square has a really good game on their hands

  4. BH3030

Great Combat – for all lovers of tactical RPGS. Story is okay, but endlessly fun to build up your favorite party and grind to dominate each mission. When even the grinding is fun, you have a winner of a game.

  5. Smileymask117

Excellent new typen strategy RPG game and gameplay. New type storieline is ao cool.

  6. Keith2212

A very unique RPG on the Switch platform that works. The story isn’t the best, but the gameplay is fantastic and that’s what keeps you playing. It also runs well and looks great in handheld.

  7. Thomas

Great game, if you like real-time strategy rpgs. Demo available in Nintendo eshop and Playstation stores. Try it out.

  8. RandomChris

The combat system is extremely fun and engaging. I honestly can’t get enough of the levels, which are all just the right length, and the checkpointing system is really innovative. Really optimistic for a sequel.

  9. Bkstunt

Not enough mission variety (or game play variety) to satisfy hardcore strategy fans. OK if you’re looking for that “fix”.

  10. GabrielC

Just bought this game and it’s not good at all. Tried to return it and wasn’t able to. I was t aware that I can’t return a game, even if it’s within a week.

  11. Eric

Great game, fast delivery! Highly recommended! Loving it so far!

  12. Tristan

I give 4 stars because it can be a little repetitive and there could be more job types but its almost a live action takd on the strategy genre with no grids or waiting in turn a completely open zone. Lots of fun if you like strategy and worth checking out if youre into RPG or deeply political storylines.

  13. Roth

If you liked final fantasy tactics you will love this game. Story is ok but gameplay is great, i like how its like a real time strategy game! Very recommended for fans of strategic rpgs!

  14. TheLaughingMann

Got this on sale during Black Friday. It looked like a game I wanted to play because of trailers. Thankfully, the game is fun. Story is good. Gameplay seems balanced. On Switch, the game looks as good as it can get for handheld; if you want better graphics, look to the PS4/PS5 versions. Overall, I think the game is a lot of fun.

Note that if you get the game and play it before end of year, there is still an early access bonus you can take advantage of for a couple of free items.

  15. Midoriya

A lot better than expected, the battles seems epic

  16. Ian59

Great game, I like the interactive real time aspect of a turn based game, reminds me of ff7.

  17. KevinD

Pretty challenging real time RPG. Storyline is great so far and gameplay is fun.

  18. HTS21

One of the best Strategy RPGs on nintendo switch. Recommended.

  19. ArcherAve

I know that Diofield Chronicle got quite a few mixed reviews — you either really dug it or you didn’t. No right or wrong answer. For me, I really dug it.

  20. Daniel

Its Square Enix, at this point its just another game in their catalogue of jrpgs and it wont stop them from making more

  21. WIGAMER

Fast shipping is my favorite aspect of ordering from Best Buy. This game is great and very fun. Well worth the purchase.

  22. Unknown

Good game on of the best to have released recently

  23. TerranRabbit

Best RPG i played so far. Graphics ans storyline is up to par and i recommend playing this if you are a big RPG fan.

  24. Dargo

One of Square Enix’s lesser known titles. A good solid real time strategy game. Interesting storyline and excellent graphics. If you are unsure try the demo on the eshop before buying.

  25. Jimmy

I’m currently at what I think is the halfway point of the game (given how many chapters I know there are) and did every subquest up to that point. At the very minimum it’s a 7.5-8, but I’m giving it a 10/10 to counterbalance the reviews that basically never gave the game a chance. I was hooked by the end of chapter 1. The artwork is fantastic, voice acting is great (British English and Welsh accents as opposed to high pitched overly dramatic American English, thank goodness lol), good graphics, good RTS gameplay. Interacting with characters at the base is reminiscent to Fire Emblem Three Houses a tiny bit, but there’s definitely not a lot of depth to the point of it becoming a social sim.

The performance on the Switch could be a bit more smooth with slowdowns of graphics in between loading screens, loading environments at the beginning of battles, and there are control glitches in terms of targeting enemies. No doubt this is probably a better experience on PC, especially with more graphical power and better controls (even though there are a lot mixed reviews on Steam as well). It could have benefitted from more polish in terms of the menus, equipment systems, balancing, and more variety in objectives and adding more varied fighting styles (like how I’ve heard Octopath 2 improved over its predecessor in nearly every way). With the exception of weapons, it’s a bit annoying to have to check what your characters have equipped before buying more stuff. The story might introduce too much to process at certain points, but even then, there’s literally a library that you can visit to catch up and get more details on any character, plot point, the political power struggle via drawings of copies of the world map, or any battle.

If this was literally an RTS game given a different name with “Final Fantasy” or “Fire Emblem” attached to it, it would’ve gotten a higher score, honestly. So don’t let the negative reviews fool you; this is a valiant attempt from Lancarse/Square-Enix. They were hoping to make this a new franchise that continues on and I certainly hope they do just like with Octopath. With improvements, it could become a release to watch out for.

  26. Bernie

Great game! Different style of RGP than your regular RPG or JRPG!

  27. hchang32

Great game. RTS games are awesome. Something different.

  28. MYBLZYRFAZ

awesome game but gets old after chp 5 so watch out!

  29. Joseph

This game is great. Graphically, it’s surprising that this game can run on the switch.

  30. Led4yahed

Great game, i hope it gets a sequel. Good strategy game.

  31. Bestbuysucks

It holds up fine on the switch. I haven’t had any crashes on the switch yet, but I will say that there is a small, noticeable difference with the graphics and the shading compared to the PS5/Xbox/PC version, which is to be expected, even if you’re playing docked on the switch. I ALWAYS play docked) It’s actually pretty fun, and the learning curve is not difficult. Even if you’re not used to playing these types of games, I feel that almost anybody can jump into this and have fun with it. I would definitely recommend this game.

  32. Tonetron0093

Amazing RTS game. Well made, interesting story, future cult classic

  33. MetsuTDK

As a fan of strategy game, this one had a decent bit to offer and the story was alright. While I didn’t pay full price for the title, I enjoyed the game and they even added a few expansion to make it a better value proposition. Look at a review first, but fans of strategy games might find a hidden gem in it.
