    Returned to my local store after just one day. The refurbished player won’t play my brand new planet earth II 4K HDR discs. The player also frozen up once and I had to unplug it to free it up. Regular blu ray movies played fine. I am disappointed as I assumed the player had been gone through by geek squad. Probably It is not the case with my player. This is the only player I want to have because of the SACD playback.

    Delivered just a day ago. Got everything hooked up, made sure all the software was up-to-date, got ready to play some CDs and Blu-rays. Would not get all the way through a CD without having to unplug the player and plug it back in because the unit would freeze. Put a regular Blu-ray in and it did the same thing, then put a 4K movie in, same thing again. The player continually freezes regardless of what source is used. The only way to unfreeze it is to unplug it and plug it back in.
    This is a very well-known defect with this player.

    Bought this as a refurbished product at a considerably lower price than new, but it performs just like brand new ! also bought it for the 3D playback which is comparable to the Movie Theatre, awesome piece of equiptment !!

    I popped in Wonder Woman only to encounter problems reminiscent of scratched DVD rentals from the Blockbuster days. I cannot speculate as to the source of the problem( disc or player), but I think I have spent far too much money at Best Buy to have this happen. It is very simple. I pop in a 30 dollar disc in player= it better play.

    Got the player, set it up quickly, CAN’T download “sling”! That was the whole reason I bought it, based on a Sony’s rep’s recommendation… NOT amused…

    I couldn’t believe the cost savings on this unit. It came quickly, in it’s original packaging, with all it’s accessories. Looks and functions like brand new, Sony even activated the full warrantee…

    Should say somewhere in description that this is geek squad refurbished and not factory refurbished.
    Came in box with remote. No packing materials batteries or manual.
    Great upgrade from our old player. It is much faster and easier to use.
    Reads neary every file type i have attempted.
    Only downfall is the way it organizes media files over the network.

    I picked one of these up for $99 refurbished and wow what a player!
    The picture from a honest to goodness UHD Blu Ray disc is SO MUCH BETTER than any compressed stream it’s not even funny.
    I care little that this unit will not be receiving the Dolby Vision firmware update. HDR10 is just fine!

    This unit works great. Connected to a Sony 65″ and a vizio soundbar with wireless speakers. All respond well together. The remote is user friendly.Watch for sale prices. Purchased mine refurbished for $99.99

    This was a “refurbished” model but I could not tell that was the case. Arrived earlier than expected, packaged like a brand new one and preformed flawlessly. Very impressed with the upscaling as well as playing 4k discs. And it is built like a tank also!

    This was reconditioned or re-certified so I was a little skeptical. Packaging was not original but everything was there and the unit looked new. Had it now for 6 months without an issue and saved a bundle. Worth a look.

    Order arrived promptly and properly packed. Set up was quick and easy. I don’t buy movies that often, but when I do, I want the best quality I can get…and since Sony didn’t include a 4k Bluray player in their PS4 Pro….(seriously guys????) I opted to get a standalone 4kUHD player instead of a Xbox one S or X…cuz I don’t have time to game on so many different consoles.

    Video and audio are great, played Ultradisc, I bought this to play my DVD Audio and SACD disc, which this does just fine, only caveat is that does not decode the audio formats and send an analog signal to RCA jacks, so it relies on my receiver to convert, as my secondary source in my receiver is analog only I can only listen on the mains not the remote speakers. Also as a refurbished item this unit came with a different remote, which has a couple less features. As refurbished model I did see a significant savings.

    Refurb came in perfect condition, packed securely, no issues. The player doesn’t have a LCD display screen on at all times like a typical player…..which is not an issue for me. The player also supports apps like youtube and netflix. My tv has those natively, but it’s nice that I can use that as an option if need be.

    4k HDR looks great. A good website to use when deciding to buy a 4k bluray is http://realorfake4k.com/ to see if the movie was actually shot in 4k or if it’s being sampled up.

    I ordered this player and it arrived without an HDMI cable. I then called Customer Service, who apologised profusely, and said they will send me a new one with the cable. The new one arrived today and, surprise, surprise, no cable. Plus it has a huge scratch in it and a bent plug. So now, I have two blu ray players that I can’t use and will no doubt need to return them at my own inconvenience.

    I got his player for only $100, and i could tell if it was a refurb or brand new. It works! To get this player for $100, i will continue searching Best Buy’s Geek Squad approved products

    The only way you would know this wasn’t brand new was for the fact it didn’t come with batteries for the remote. The player works well and while it may not be the most capable unit on the market it is of higher quality than the standard bargain buy while being quite a bit lower cost than other 4k players. The player handles 4k disks well and the up-conversion on blu-ray is very nice, with my new tv many people have asked if standard blu-ray movies are 4k movies due to the quality.

    Overall functionality is fairly robust, but the interface is dated/antiquated with menu options that are arguably cryptic, requiring you to refer to the manual.

    Having said that, the bluetooth connectivity is nice so you can listen thru bluetooth headphones at night. You can also access media files over your network.

    Overall response is sufficiently responsive

    There is no display on the front of the device, so it’s difficult to figure out if it has been left on and the power options are limited. There is a tiny LED that indicates it’s on. That’s it.

    You get the impression that this was rushed to market with no input from people who would potentially use this

    That being said, it works and works well. I just can’t imagine paying $300 for this and having something that — from a user experience– seems slapped together. Functionality aside, there’s nothing “high end” about this.

    I had a few hiccups where the disc would freeze and the player would lock up. It has since been updated and now works great. Gave it to my bro in law as a gift and he loves it. Plays so many discs. Only downside is no Dolby Vision support.

    I only owned this item for a few months and only used it a few times when it stopped recognizing DVD’s and Blu-Ray discs. I took it to the Geek Squad and it was working fine for them. But every time I took it home it wouldn’t work. The Geek Squad said it was a proximital problem, which means it won’t work at my home only at the store. The Geeks didn’t even open the unit now clean the laser. I would not buy another
