  1. JoJo

I wanted an inexpensive Blu-Ray DVD player for the guest bedroom so I opted for a Geek Squad refurbished unit for less than half the price of a new one, and I’m pretty sure it was merely a reboxed return because it’s perfect cosmetically and it functions great.

  2. SpecialK

I watch DVDs and/or Blu-ray rarely, but did want a player, so when I saw this refurbished Blu-ray going for so little money I had nothing to lose. It works great. Looks and works like brand new – even the streaming is great 9though this model is not Wifi, it’s LAN connection only…bummer). But hey, WHAT A BARGAIN!

  3. wellsjo

I’m really happy with this bluray player. Next time around I will probably buy a Wi-Fi enabled model, but this one is just fine. Really happy with the condition of the refurbished model – looks NEW to me.

  4. DRAgon

Great quality for a super good price. Picture is awesome!

  5. CNich

Great purchase .. got product quickly, easy to install/setup .. very happy with my purchase!

  6. Absolutelygreat

Missing parts everything was scratched. No cables no nothing

  7. Jaylite

Perfect Blue-Ray player at a perfect price. Streaming capability was a plus I wasn’t even looking for.

  8. jimmy

Nice product. Small and compact. Very easy to hook up. Ots of apps.

  9. Bwolter1

Generally no problem with buying refurbished. This is no exception. Works great. Didnt need wifi built in since my tv already had wifi.

  10. Brian

I bought 2 of these. Have some minor scuffs, but it works. Didn’t come with anything other than the remotes. No owners manuals, batteries for the remotes,…

Also, these are NOT WiFi streaming devices, must be hard wired. Disappointing, as that’s the main reason I bought them.

I would recommend them, as long as you know what you’re getting.

  11. Iris

Great refurbished Blu-ray DVD combo awesome price.

  12. mi650

This has to be hard wired to stream video. They could make that more clear.

  13. Iris

Great product for the price refurbished works great

  14. Amybb

Product works great exactly as described looks brand new and a great price I would definitely buy another and highly recommend to anyone looking!

This Blu-ray/DVD player is reburbished and came with AC power cord and remote. It was packed well and easy to open. Ordered HDMI cable separately. Both packages arrived same time. I had AAA batteries on hand as well as ethernet cable.

    1. Unbox. 2. Connect HDMI from player to tv. 3. Connect ethernet cable from player to internet. 4. Put batteries in remote. 5. Connect power supply to player; plug into outlet. Connection order was what was recommended by the manual, which was not included, but was easily found and downloaded online (I did this before the player even arrived.)

Player menu indicated a firmware update was ready. That took a few minutes, didn’t really time it, but didn’t seem very long, maybe 5 at most I’d guess.

Main menu screen has various built in channels (“apps”), like Netflix (remote also has a Netflix button) – of course naturally you have to be a subscriber to any paid services like that. We already have a Roku, so as with our Sony TV’s similar menu, probably won’t use it much, but nice that it’s there.

Currently we only have a handful of Blu-Ray discs on hand (from DVD/Digital/Blu-Ray combo sets where we didn’t pass the Blu-Ray disc on to someone else). The first Blu-Ray disc I put in didn’t seem to take very long for the menu to load; the second one seemed to take a bit longer (not terribly); both played great. Right now a regular DVD is playing, and that’s working just fine too and looks good to me.

We plan to gradually replace old VHS tapes with Blu-Ray or DVDs, at least the ones we can find. Our latest VHS player’s tracking (or something) has gone consistently haywire on every tape we put in lately. Instead of looking for a replacement, which is becoming increasingly harder and more expensive, we decided our best option was to finally get get a Blu-Ray player.

We were very pleased to find this refurbished Sony Blu-Ray player for such a good deal from Best Buy. So far so good with how well it works.

The player and added HDMI cable came to under $40 total, including tax and free shipping. I think that price would be hard to beat for a good quality Blu-Ray player that’s just like new.

Photo shows how player fits underneath our large screen tv. Blu-Ray remote is next to it.

This review is for the refurbished offering. Looks and works like new. I purchased for Blue Ray and Amazon Prime. Not most recent model, so Amazon interface not latest version (as in Fire TV stik) but works well and loading speed is fine, no buffering issues. Manual and batteries were not included as described, but for $30.00, still excellent, so no need to lower rating.

  17. Calote

We got this at a very good price, and got what we wanted, a basic DVD player. I can’t see the point in spending tons of money when internet TV, Apple TV, etc is available.

  18. Megan

It’s my own fault, as I missed the part about the internet being wired and not WiFi. It works well as a blu Ray player though.

  19. Aldwin

It has all the basic function that you need. For the price, I cannot complain. If you just need the functions and features it has, I don’t see any reason buying the more expensive ones. Your receiver and TV are the more critical component of your system, upgrade these if you are not satisfied with the sound or video quality.

  20. Malia

I wanted a basic blu-ray player as more and more the movies I’m interested in only have special features released on blu-ray. Best Buy had this refurbished player, it was relatively inexpensive, works great, and if I feel like hooking it up through an ethernet cable to my modem I can access Netflix and the like through it. Overall very pleased with my purchase.

  21. Hawkfire

Play DVD and Blu-ray great. The remote easy to read and work. Apps on it work with out any difficulty.

  22. technogranny

Bought this to have Netflix in the spare room but after only a few uses this unit started to crash frequently! Of course the 30 day period was already up before it got used for more than set-up. Watch for 15-20 minutes and then you get a black screen. Let it cool down and same scenario. It’s a shame because it came loaded with apps and options better than most players if it would just work!

  23. Rahhh

Isn’t promt at startup, but once running goes smooth.

  24. Twon

A great product made supremely worthwhile at a Best Buy open box price.

  25. Alexaaa

Arrived quickly with free shipping. Like that! Looked to be an open box return. Had to supply my own ethernet cable but I have more than a dozen laying around so no problem there. Came with everything else I needed. I set it hidden away in a cabinet a few feet from the router and plugged it in. The lone video connection to my old Panasonic HDTV is an HDMI cable. After turning it on it walks you through a simple setup and viola!, the icons for the different apps pop up and you are ready to go. One thing about using the apps is that when you want to replay a scene it can take several frustrating minutes with the remote. Also the start up is a bit slow. Not so with the Blu-Ray operation though. Speaking of the Blu-ray, what a sharp picture! love it.

  26. Mrs1consumer

I paid $40 for a refurbished streamIng blue ray player and couldn’t be happier. Finally I have accesses to netflick and Hulu on my tv. Very nice product! Thank you Best Buy

  27. GFPilot

My previous Blu-ray player was not working properly so I needed a quick and simple replacement. This player does the job. I didn’t need anything fancy.

  28. oevelyn

it’s small and it works great! No complaints – would buy again.

  29. JuliBuli

I’ve bought this product before!! And gave to my kids and bought another for myself

  30. Jake

Blu player is nice and it is small enough to fit in a small space

  31. David

Cant even tell this thing is refurbished!! works and looks like new

  32. Poppy

Simple to install and operate. Picture clear and crisp.

  33. germaine

for the price, i highly recommend the item. i wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase.

  34. Sodapop

It lasted about a year plus. This not the first refurbish player but it just not worth it. I will stay away from refurbishing anything. They just don’t last.

  35. Felix

Even after a year of use, blue ray is working properly, good quality and well refurbished product.

  36. kiteboarder

I don’t rent blu-ray too often any more, so I really didn’t want to spend much. This was a refurbished unit, and even though it was rated as excellent condition with all parts included, the remote was missing from the unit. I didn’t have time to take it back before the allowed return period expired, so I ended up with it. Fortunately, the remote for the Sony TV we have this player connected to works with this player, so I didn’t have to spend extra $ to buy a remote specifically for this. This will probably be the last time I’ll ever buy anything refurbished from Best Buy.
