We had 5 total service calls on this fridge in the just over a year we had it for anything from a no cooling problem to the entire computer board being bad. It also does this fun thing where it will freeze the coils up then thaw out all over your kitchen floor. We were eventually able to exchange this fridge for a new one. I would recommend if you’re considering a fridge, to stay away from this one.

This refrigerator only last 6 years and a half. It started giving us problems around the 5 years period. Had to replace it with a new refrigerator due to cooling problems. Freezer worked fine, but upper portion stopped cooling because a poor designed (explained by Geek Squad Technician) with a faulty temperature sensor that did not sent the correct information to the motherboard casing the refrigeration process to stop. Sensor was replaced, but it last 2 weeks and started giving us the same problem. Don’t buy this appliance, it will give you a headache and is a waste of money. We threw away over 2K with this purchase plus the services paid after the guarantee, plus extended guaranty purchase ended. Prior refrigerator made by Kenmore lasted over 20 years. Too bad those are no longer made.

Glad we bought the extended warranty. Water dispenser stopped working almost immediately after the initial warranty expired. Due to Covid it has taken a few years of visits from multiple repair teams to finally decide that it can’t be fixed.

Do not buy this refrigerator. We have had nothing but problems with the icemaker freezing up and needing to be dethawed. Had the Geek Squad warranty, they had to come out once per year to fix icemaker, the final time they replaced it. That was at the 2.5 year mark. Not long after the 3 year warranty ran out, the icemaker again stopped working. It now has a huge buildup of ice that we can’t defrost enough to get it to go away. Problem is worse now than it has ever been. Seriously regret buying this refrigerator. Repair man said Samsung ice makers are notorious for this. Haven’t been able to get ice out of this fridge for almost a year now.

Five years into ownership and the problems keep coming. The defrost drain is known to have an issue with freezing up which causes the bottom of the fridge to collect water and freeze, jamming the drawer. The ice maker freezes up frequently and requires defrosting with a hair dryer. Now the fridge section temperature drops to 20 degrees and shows a ‘normal’ 37 degrees on the panel. Replaced the temperature sensor which worked for 2 days before the problem returned. Maybe it’s the defrost sensor, maybe it’s the damper door, maybe it’s the control board…..or maybe it’s time for a non-Samsung unit.

It’s the worst, it’s very pretty but it doesn’t work. Samsung should only do what they know how to do, which is cell phones and televisions. In 6 years, 5 times it has needed repair, two of the technicians told me that they are one of the refrigerators that they repair the most. And the 10-year warranty doesn’t cover any of those repairs. So if you have to have a nice fridge but it doesn’t work make sure you buy Samsung.

The ice maker stopped working at year 1, it would get frosted over and jam every 2 weeks. At year 9 the entire fridge is frosting over, the fan gets iced and the refrigerator stops cooling.

The icemaker quit in 2018. Searches indicate this to be a consistent fault. Repair cost would have been $1200 and it would have likely failed within 4 years as they did not come up with a better replacement.
The internal temp of the Refridgerator is inconsistent. Liquid items in the back will freeze.

I guess I got one of the lemons. There are so many good reviews that it blows my mind how bad mine is. I have had it for ~8 years and I have to “defrost” it every few months. The panel in the back freezes up (fan and evaporator coil) and I literally have to take everything out and thaw it out and remove the back panel (on the inside) I am getting ready to buy a new fridge because I am tired of dealing with it. If you google (samsung freezing up refrigerator) you will see that there are numerous videos to try to fix this. I have tried everything!!! The ice maker lasted 2 years then started freezing up and then just stopped working. Has not worked for at least 5 years. Customer service was useless in-fact ticked me off while talking with them several times. I am an engineer with 70+ patents and many consumer product designs. I think I know what I am talking about to CS but they made be feel like I was stupid (LOL). I have a Samsung phone and range and microwave so I think a pretty loyal customer. Would never buy a fridge from them again…EVER!

A repair man placed a heater in the refrigerator and section that took care of the icing problem. That cost me $450. I decided not to fix the freezer, as that would have cost me another $450. One month later, I had to have the heater replaced. Two months later, it started icing again. The repair man said this was a common problem with this refrigerator. I’M BUYING A NEW REFRIGERATOR, AND IT’S NOT GOING TO BE A SAMSUNG.

I purchased this refrigerator in 2015. Let me give you a brief review of how our time with this appliance has gone. Our ice make has gone out TWICE. Our cooling fan has gone out a total of 3 times (including again now), the Heating cool in the back that maintains that no ice buildup in the back of the fridge is in check, has gone out twice. The shelves are all cheaply made and broke (even after being replaced, they have failed with the new parts ordered from Samsung. When Samsung sent someone out to check the ice maker at one point, they saw the ice build up on TOP of the maker and told me that the caving in of the ice maker was due to USER ERROR of me heating it up….. While there was 5lbs of ICE built up on the top. I love samsung electronics, but since I have owned their appliances (Refrigerator, washer and dryer), I have had nothing but issues (severe and multiple). Stay as far away as you can from their appliances. The ONLY good service I have had from these things is from Best Buy. Samsung themselves are 0% help and it is a nightmare.

While I like the refrigerator and features, Samsung has an issue with ice build up, water, etc – search online. We have lived with water underneath our bottom tray since about 6 months in. We bought it right before ‘the lock down” and had issues getting repair/replacement so have just dealt with. Recently, the ice build up and fan issue began (again, Google this issue).
